Where this unit stands

According to press coverage of the presentation on 7 June 2026, concept art of a Primaris Psyker was shown and described as a support unit able to draw on the Warp. It is worth being precise about the evidence here, because it is weaker than for the other units on this site: concept art is not gameplay footage, and nothing about this unit has been shown in the game itself. No statistic has been published for any unit in this game.

02

What the tabletop establishes

A Primaris Psyker is a sanctioned human psyker attached to a Guard regiment, and in the setting he is the army’s only real access to the Warp. He is also a liability: psykers in Warhammer 40,000 fail in spectacular and contagious ways, and the tabletop has always modelled that risk alongside the power. The Imperium tolerates them because an army of ordinary humans has no other answer to things ordinary humans cannot fight.

A sanctioned human psyker attached to a Guard regiment — the army’s only real access to the Warp, and a liability as much as an asset.

Tabletop identity, as established by Games Workshop. It says nothing about the video game.
03

What has actually been shown

Nothing is published about how this unit behaves, and this section will stay short until something is. What can be said is what the description implies: if a support unit draws on the Warp, then some psychic system exists in the game. The publisher has not described one — not its rules, not its risks, not whether it is a battle mechanic, a campaign mechanic, or an ability attached to particular units.

04

What to watch next

The open question is whether psychic power carries its own danger. In the setting, the interesting thing about a psyker is not that he is strong, it is that using him can go badly wrong in ways that hurt his own side — and that is the part a strategy game usually declines to model, because players dislike systems that punish them for using what they paid for. The Warhammer trilogy handled magic as a resource pool with miscast risk, which is close but not the same thing. Whether this game does something with that, or treats Warp powers as ordinary abilities, is unannounced, and it is the single most interesting unresolved mechanic named so far. Reported by press coverage of 8 June 2026, not confirmed by the publisher. Information correct as of 18 August 2026.

What is not known

These questions have no published answer as of 8 June 2026. They are listed because an absence of information is information — and because we would rather name the gap than fill it.

?Press coverage reports that only CONCEPT ART of the Primaris Psyker was shown — not gameplay. That is a weaker form of evidence than the other units on this page, and it is worth keeping separate.
?The same coverage describes it as a support unit able to harness the Warp. No psychic mechanic has been described by the publisher.
