CONFIRMED FOR LAUNCH

The four playable factions

Announced by Games Workshop on 12 December 2025. What the publisher has said about each of them, and what remains unknown.

ALL FACTIONS

Factions

The four playable factions confirmed for launch, what the publisher has said about each of them, and what remains unknown. Every claim on these pages carries its source and the date we checked it.

Units

Every unit any source has actually named for Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000, what it is on the tabletop, and the open question its translation into a Total War battle raises. No statistics have been published for any unit in this game, and this section does not invent them.

19 topics

Characters

The named characters shown or announced for Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000. Each page separates what the publisher has shown from what the tabletop establishes — and says which is which.

2 topics

Setting

The Era Indomitus and the events that shaped it. This is the background the game is set in — established by Games Workshop, not by Creative Assembly. Nothing here tells you what the video game will do with it.

4 topics

The game

What the publisher and the distributor actually publish about the product — release date, platforms, languages, requirements, announcements. Every figure on these pages is read from the source and carries the date it was read. None of them is typed by hand, which is why they will still be right the day they change.

10 topics

Mechanics

What the publisher has actually said about how this game plays — and, just as often, what it has said in one clause and never returned to. Every page here separates the sentence that was published from the question it leaves open.

21 topics

Worlds

The planets any source has actually named for Total War: WARHAMMER 40,000. The setting has thousands; this section only lists the ones someone has said are in the game, and says who said it and when.

OUR METHOD

Three levels, and every claim carries one

This game has not been released. Almost everything written about it online is either a quotation of the 7 official announcements, or someone guessing. Here is how we tell those apart.

CONFIRMED

A source of authority established it — the publisher, the developer, or the licence holder — and we cite that source with its date.

REPORTED

An established press outlet reported it and the publisher has not confirmed it. We name the outlet and the date, and we say plainly that the publisher has not confirmed it.

UNCONFIRMED

It is expected, assumed, or inferred — from the tabletop game, or from an earlier Total War. We say so, and we say what the publisher has actually announced on the point, which is usually nothing.

Each page shows the date its information was checked. A guide dated three weeks ago is immediately distinguishable from a guide with no date at all.
